Bloomfeld Apple Festival Parade winners announced

The Big Apple Parade closed the Bloomfield Apple Festival weekend celebration Sunday afternoon on a crisp, cool early autumn afternoon.

More than 100 entries were featured as scores of parade onlookers lined the West Spring and South Franklin Sts. route.

Sylvania Wesleyan Church, from rural Bloomfield, took home two first-place awards in the float judging.

Raydar Indiana and Raydar International, NSA Crane contractor, won first place in the commercial division and second place in the Parade Theme category.

The church's entry, "God Keeps His Promises" was the Judge's Choice Award winner. The float also took home first place in the Best Religious category.

Raydar Indiana and Raydar International won first place in the commercial division with second place going to Bloomfield State Bank.

Greene County FFA chapters combined for a float that won the Best School Related Category. The Bloomfield Junior High cheerleaders' float placed second.

Best Parade Theme went to Concord General Baptist Church's float titled "Train up a child in the way he should go." The float also took second place in the Best Religious category.

This year's parade theme was "Planting Seeds for Tomorrow."

Second place in the Parade Theme category went to the entry by Raydar Indiana and Raydar International.

Frye Farms-Kaity Frye won both first and second place in the Best Horse category.

Winners in the tractor division where unavailable from Apple Festival officials, according to chairperson Kris Jarman.

Honored this year as co-parade marshals, and going along with the parade theme, were staff and faculty from the Bloomfield School District.

Members of the parade committee who pitched in to organize this year's parade included the Apple Festival Committee, including board members: Amber Branstetter Darla Chesnut, Teressa Smith, Judy Branstetter, Wyatt LeGrand, George Poe, Dan Sichting, Ginger Sipes, Jeff Soliday, Bobby Uland, and Jarman, along with Doug Frye, Marci Frye, and Resa Woodruff.
