One dead in Sunday morning motorcycle crash

Sunday, October 14, 2012

A Bloomington man died early Sunday morning when he lost control of his motorcycle on an eastern Greene County roadway and went down an embankment and crashed.

Greene County Sheriff's Deputy Dustin Cain responded to a call on the single-vehicle accident on Chapel Road (County Road 450N), which is east of Edwards Road (County Road 1310E) at 12:37 a.m. on Sunday.

The preliminary investigation shows that Brian J. Neal, 43, was riding his 1986 Harley-Davidson motorcycle west on Chapel Road when, for unknown reasons, his motorcycle left the south side of the roadway, traveled down an embankment and crashed, according to a report filed by Cain.

Carol Williams, Deputy Greene County Coroner, pronounced Neal dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Assisting the Greene County Sheriff's Department at the scene were members from the Eastern Fire Department, Greene County Ambulance Service, Van Buren Township Fire Department from Monroe County, and the Indiana State Police.
