Born Sept. 8, 1912 in Greene County, she was the daughter of Willard and Almira (Hash) Blaker.
She and her husband, Fred, owned and operated the family farm and she was a homemaker. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Church.
Surviving relatives include: her children, Bobby A. Helms (Janet) of Switz City, Richard Helms of Bloomington, Jarrel Helms (Virgie) of Bloomfield, Joy Richardson of Bloomington, Gayle Gedrich (Fred) of Annandale, Virginia and Freeda Hudson (John) of Solsberry; 19 grandchildren, 36 great, grandchildren and 18 great, great, grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Helms on Aug. 16, 2006; her parents; sisters, Verna Huffman, Edna Martindale, Gertrude Shields and Gwen Norris; brothers, Charles and Paul Blaker; and two grandsons, Eric Warren Helms and Timothy Jay Helms.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18 at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Rev. Eugene Helms officiating. Interment will follow in Hash Cemetery in rural Bloomfield.
Public visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one-hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.
