Elmer Cooksey, 88, of Solsberry, passed away Wednesday October 17, 2012 at Bell Trace Health & Living Center.
Born June 18, 1924 in Solsberry, Ind., he was the son of Fred and Daisy (Thompson) Cooksey.
Elmer drove a school bus for Solsberry and Eastern Greene Schools, he was also a logger. He was an disabled Army veteran of WWII, a member of the Solsberry Christian Church and Solsberry American Legion Post # 450.
Surviving relatives include: his children, Connie (Dave) Frye, Kathy Thompson and Gary Cooksey, all of Solsberry; his grandchildren, Christine (Kyle) Strauser, Brian Thompson, Bradley Thompson, Ryan Cooksey, Josh (Heather) Cooksey and Ashley Cooksey; his great grandchildren, Marissa Thompson, Katie Strauser, Natalie Strauser, Donovan White, Chase Thompson, Bailey Brooks, Conner Thompson, Caleb White, Keith Thompson, Caitlyn Cooksey, Hunter Thompson, Chance Cooksey, Wyatt Cooksey, Seth Cooksey and Kyleigh Hasler; one great great grandchild, Aubree Pfeiffer; and one sister, Dorothy Robinson, of Fillmore, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Cooksey on April 23, 2008; one sister, Edith Abbott, and his parents.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday until the hour of service at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Jenkins Funeral Home with Pastor Kyle Strauser officiating. Burial will follow at Solsberry Cemetery with military graveside services by the Solsberry American Legion.
