Howard Smith, 84, of Bloomfield, passed away at 6 p.m. Saturday, October 27, 2012 at his residence in Bloomfield.
Born February 5, 1928 in Freeport, NY, he was the son of Howard and Helen (Cashman) Smith.
He was a geologist for the Indiana Geological Survey in Bloomington and later for Citizens Gas Corporation. He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Bloomfield and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving relatives include: his children, Howard P. Smith (Rosemary) of Nashville and Kathleen Drake (David) of Lansing, KA; and grandchildren, Abigail Smith and Andrew Smith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Vera Smith on Feb. 1, 2010, two sisters, Barbara Becker and Arlene Smith and his parents.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31, at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Father Michael Madden officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and one hour prior to service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the Greene County Humane Society.
