Union drops opener

Thursday, November 8, 2012

Union was outscored 37-19 over the final three quarters as host Cloverdale evened its record at 1-1 with a 40-37 victory over the Lady Bulldogs.

It was the season opener of the Union High School girls basketball team.

"We started out really hot," said Union coach Benji Boyd. "But they figured out which of our kids could score and took it away.

"The kids played really hard all the way. They were absolutely exhausted. We were minus a couple of players (Conner Kendall and Karissa Jobe). I was really proud of them."

Autumn Secrest had 19 rebounds to go with five points.

Hannah Sullivan led with 13 points and Cali Hale added nine.

There was no junior varsity game because UHS does not have enough players.

The Lady Bulldogs will play at Oblong, Ill. Monday.
