Lady Lakers earn first win

Shakamak had three girls score in double figures as the Lady Lakers defeated host Clay City 59-40 in a Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conference girls basketball game Tuesday night.

It was the first win in three games for the Lady Lakers, who were led in scoring by the 18 points of Kelsey Pilant and Megan Phipps.

Sierra Hudson added 14 points.

"If you look at it, we won every quarter," said Lady Laker coach Troy Fougerousse. "We shot the ball very well from the perimeter.

"Phipps, Hudson and Kelsey Fulford made shots from the outside, which opened up things for Pilant inside. This was a nice win on the road."

Clay City won the junior varsity game 29-14.

Shakamak will host White River Valley at 6 p.m. Saturday in another conference game. Shakamak is 1-0 in league play.
