Lady Cards fall to Edgewood

The Bloomfield Lady Cardinals turned the basketball over 27 times on their way to a 41-35 loss at home to Edgewood Tuesday night in a non-conference girls basketball game.

BHS now stands at 1-1 on the year.

"We did not start out as strong as we did last Thursday and we lost our intensity," BHS coach Chris Hitchcock said. "We had a good effort in the fourth quarter and managed to cut the lead down to three points."

BHS spread the scoring around as Alicia Hasler finished the night with seven points while Elena Weddle, Kristin Hall and Kari Schulte added six each.

Emily Bucher and Madison Toon finished with four points each for the Lady Cards while Sarah McIntosh added two.

Edgewood led 13-9 at the first stop and 30-20 at the half before the Lady Cardinals upped the defense in the second half.

The Lady Mustangs were held to just 11 points in the second half but Hitchcock felt his team's lack of ability to hang onto the basketball ultimately led to their demise.

He said with the 27 turnovers, the game was a case of missed chances.

"When you turn the ball over that many times you are going to fall short," Hitchcock said. "We played better in the second half but we came up short."

Bloomfield returns to action when they travel to North Knox for a 6 p.m. contest on Saturday night.
