Franklin E. Foley, 81, of Bloomfield, passed away at 8:35 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012 at IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington.

Born Sept. 2, 1931 in Greensburg, he was the son of Gail and Lucille (Harding) Foley.

Frank retired from the U.S. Navy as a corp man with 22 years of service. He worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal service, was one that helped establish the Greene County Ambulance service and was the first director for the ambulance service retiring in 1994. He was the deputy corner for Greene County and a former member of the Greene County Hospital Board. In June of 1990 he was appointed by Gov. Bayh to the Indiana State Emergency Medical Service Commission. He was a life time member of the Bloomfield American Legion, Bloomfield Lions Club and the Linton Elks Lodge.

Surviving relatives include: his wife, Vi Foley whom he married Jan. 23, 1954; children, Linda (Mark) Henry of Newberry, Michael (Nancy Fraser) Foley of Chelsea, Mich., Pamela (Douglas) Schulte of Bloomfield, Sondra (Timothy) Thompson of Bloomfield and Mark (Roanne) Foley of Crane; 14 grandchildren and 17 great, grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Bryan E. Foley, one daughter, Teresa Lynn Campbell and his parents.

Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012 at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Pastor Jeff Rockey officiating. Interment will follow in Scotland cemetery.

Public visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday and one hour prior to service on Saturday at the funeral home.

The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
