Born May 1, 1922 in Greene County, she was the daughter of Alfred and Zella J. (Miller) Haywood.
She worked for RCA and was a homemaker. She attended Scotland United Methodist Church.
Surviving relatives include: three daughters, Linda Mauder of Coal City, Joyce Norris of Bloomfield and Debra Hartsburg of Newberry; one son, Max McElroy of Bloomfield; one brother, Earl Haywood of Bloomfield; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. McElroy in 1999; one daughter, Laura Jane Geissler; one granddaughter, Jennifer Geissle; two sisters, Helen Cook and Imogene Criswell; and her parents.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24 at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Interment will follow in Scotland Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday and one-hour prior to service Saturday at the funeral home.
