Jalia Gay, 75, of Switz City, passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012 at Greene County General Hospital.
Born Dec. 6, 1936 in Altro, Kentucky, Jalia was the daughter of James and Callie Collins.
She worked at RCA, Kellers, and in home healthcare. She and her husband, Thomas Gay, Switz City, would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in May of 2013. They had known each other since childhood and had lived in Switz City for 42 years.
Jalia was a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include her husband; brother Sam Collins of Austin; daughter, Linda (Gay) and her husband Jack L. Flagg of Bloomfield; son, Steve and his wife Nancy Gay of Bloomington; son, Tommy and his wife Susan Gay of Freedom; step-granddaughter, Missy Jordan of Freedom; granddaughter, Jasmine (Flagg) and her husband Ryan Myers of Portland, Ore., grandson Britt Flagg of Eugene, Ore., step-great-grandson Cody Jordan; step-great-granddaughter Leslie Ramos; and great-grandson Braedan Flagg.
She was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings.
Visitation and funeral service will be at Jenkins Funeral Home on Saturday, Dec. 1. Visitation will be at 12:30 p.m. and the funeral will follow at 2 p.m.
Jalia Gay will be laid to rest following the funeral in Switz City Cemetery. Her love and laughter will be forever missed.
