Lady Lakers roll past North Central

Thursday, November 29, 2012

Kelsey Pilant scored a career-high and the Shakamak defense set the tone early as the Lady Lakers won a conference game at home Thursday.

Pilant poured in a career-high 30 points and Shakamak led 16-3 after the first quarter and 31-13 at intermission as the Lady Lakers girls basketball team defeated visiting North Central 54-37 in a Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conference game.

"The first quarter kind of set the tone," said SHS coach Troy Fougerousse. "The second quarter our defense also played well, but we had a little bit of a let down in the second half when we were playing with a big lead.

"Pilant had a monster game. They did not have answer for her."

Megan Phipps added 10 points.

Shakamak lost the junior varsity game 24-21. Megan Mattox had six points and Kierra Samm added four.

The Lady Lakers (2-5 overall, 2-2 in the SWIAC) will host Riverton Parke Tuesday.
