JASONVILLE -- Shakamak lost for the second time in 24 hours as the Lakers have started the season 0-2.

Sullivan shot 61 percent in the second half as the Golden Arrows pulled away for a 68-54 victory over the Lakers here Saturday night.

"We played two good basketball teams the last two nights," said Shakamak coach Steve Brett. "They both have very good programs.

"Both of them were undefeated when we played them. But we played pretty well at times and were right with both of them. I think Sullivan's pressure wore us down some in the second half tonight when they were able to get the lead up to double figures. But I saw a lot of good things that we can build on."

Sullivan, who improved to 3-0, made 16 of 23 shots over the final two quarters, as they expanded a 29-28 halftime lead.

"I told the kids before the game that I just wanted to get out of here with a win," said Arrow coach Jeff Moore. "This has always been a tough place for us to play.

"Shakamak really played well in the first half. We were able to wear on them and make some plays and hit some big shots in the second half."

Sullivan center Jake Kinnaman scored all 14 of his points in the second half.

"Sullivan did a good job of getting inside and making some good passes that led to easy baskets for them," said Brett. "Kinnaman was able to stick the ball in the basket when it counted most."

The Arrows got 13 points from Max Gregory, Nathan Pirtle hit four 3-pointers to account for his 12 points, Michael Willis scored 11 on 5 of 9 shooting off the bench and Michael Hutchcraft added 10.

"It's not easy to defend a team as good as Sullivan," said Brett. "They have so many different kids that can score from all over the floor.

"But we had a few breakdowns defensively. We knew that Pirtle likes to shoot threes from the corner and we let him have a couple of wide open looks on in-bounds plays. But those are correctable mistakes."

Brodie Crowe made three 3-pointers as part of a game-high 20-point performance to pace the Lakers. He also had eight rebounds and five steals.

Brandon Morin collected 13 points and eight rebounds, keying a 36-25 advantage on the boards.

"We did a good job of rebounding," said Brett. "The kids really work hard and they played hard in both game this weekend.

"The kids did a lot things well. We know we have to get better defensively, take better care of the basketball (18 turnovers) and have to make our free throws. You can't give away 11 points at the foul line (16 of 27)."

Sullivan also won the junior varsity game 37-27.

Jake Walters had 10 points for the Lakers, Christian Burris seven, Braden Scott and Samuel Messmer each had four and Dylan Collins added two. Clayton May, Jeff Bessling, Cole Sanders, Stephen McDonald, Seth Wkise, Jeremy Morrow, Griffin Terrell, Clay Reynolds and Grant Souri also played.

The Lakers will play a conference game Saturday, Dec. 8 at Dugger against Union.
