Lady Thunderbirds fall

Tuesday, December 4, 2012

Brown County outscored Eastern Greene 19-4 in the second quarter as the host Lady Eagles defeated the Lady Thunderbirds 56-32 in a non-conference high school girls basketball game Tuesday night.

BC improved to 5-3 and Eastern Greene slipped to 3-2.

"We faced two very talented post players," said EG coach Zack Stevens. "We did the best we could against their size.

"I was so proud of the girls for the way they blocked out and rebounded. They did the best they possibly could."

Brittany Martin made three 3-pointers and led Eastern Greene with 12 points.

"We have been trying to get Brittany to step up and shoot," said Stevens. "Tonight in the fourth quarter she finally did just that.

"Also, Hannah Resler, the smallest player on the floor, led us with seven rebounds and attacked the basket. We broke the fourth quarter down into two-minute segments and we won every one."

Brown County won the junior varsity game 27-25.

Eastern Greene will host Bloomfield Thursday.
