Lady Bulldogs lose at Shoals

Tuesday, December 4, 2012

Shoals snapped a three-game losing streak as the host Lady Jug Rox defeated Union 46-35 in a non-conference high school girls basketball game Tuesday night.

Shoals, who used a 16-1 advantage in the third quarter to erase a 20-16 lead by Union at the half, improved to 3-4 while Union slipped to 2-6.

"We were not very good in the third quarter," said Union coach Benji Boyd. "We were not ready to play at the start of the quarter and I don't necessarily know why.

"It was a combination of things. We were flat footed on both offense and defense."

Hallie Smith hit two 3-pointers and led Union with 15 points.

Caitlin Sanders paced the winners with 10 points.

Union will play another varsity-only game Thursday at North Central.
