Santa Claus will be visiting children at the Linton Fire Department on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
How Charming Photography, owned by Heather Graves, will be on site photographing families with Santa. Graves said a family can bring a non-perishable food item for a free 4-inch by 6-inch professional photo with Santa.
"The fire department wants to be able to assist the Linton Community Food Pantry. Obviously there is going to be a need for donations with the holiday season," Graves noted.
Linton Fire Chief Brad Sparks said the event serves several purposes, including a way for children to be familiar and friendly with the firefighters.
"This will give the kids a chance to come to the fire station. We are going to have Sparky the Fire Dog as well. This gives us another chance to mingle with the kids, and lets them come to see Santa Claus," Sparks explained.
He added the holiday season can also be a hard time for families in the area. As soon as the photograph opportunity with Santa is concluded, the firemen will be packing up the non-perishable food items and donating them to the Linton Community Food Pantry.
"A lot of people are doing without, so maybe we can help a little bit with this," Sparks noted.
Graves said she has been inviting her clients and all members of the community to take part in the event in order to gather the food donations for the pantry.
"We want people to be able to visit the fire department, have the opportunity to see the fire trucks, fire station, and learn if they need help the fire department is there to help," Graves said.
