Eastern Greene improved to 5-2 overall, 3-0 in the SWIAC. Bloomfield slipped to 3-4, 2-1 in league play.
"This was southern Indiana basketball at its finest," said EGHS coach Zack Stevens. "You have two teams that are neighbors, rivals and conference foes battling each other.
"The energy that our fans gave us was tremendous. It was good to see our girls step up in this kind of environment. We had to scratch and claw for everything we got. I was so proud of them and how hard they played. Our defense really set the tone after falling behind 12-4."
Sierra New scored 11 points for the winners and Alex Dubois finished with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Brittany Martin dished out three assists.
Elena Weddle of Bloomfield scored a game-high 16 points, including 6 of 8 shooting at the foul line.
"It was an intense battle," said Bloomfield coach Chris Hitchcock. "But the outcome was disappointing."
In the junior varsity game, Bloomfield won 23-19.
Bloomfield will play at Barr-Reeve Saturday, starting with the junior varsity game at 1 p.m.
Eastern Greene also will play Saturday, beginning at noon at Washington.
