She passed peacefully in her home with her husband Paul, daughter Charlene and youngest son Tim by her side.
She was born on Nov. 24, 1931 in Linton IN. Martha was the daughter of Obadiah Dyar and Dora Sanders Rose. Birth parents were Emily Jane Thomas and Henry "Red" Sharp. She married Lon Paul Fillers on Nov. 1, 1952.
Martha was a graduate of Linton High School in 1949. She was employed with Cincinnati Ohio Bell Telephone Company prior to entering the nursing field. She was a graduate of Nursing School at Walter State College, TN & Marian College, IN. She was a retired nurse working in Indiana, Tennessee and Georgia. Martha spent her life caring for others.
She was a member of the Church of God and supported the Church of God Children's Home in Sevierville, TN. Martha was an active member of Men & Women of Action, working on many projects throughout the United States. She was active in many organizations throughout her life and her greatest love was helping those in need.
Survivors include: her husband, the Rev. Lon Paul of GA; son Robert Paul, daughter--in-law Alice Mary and grandson Nathan Paul of IL; son Timothy Obadiah of GA; daughter Charlene Fillers Dunn and grandson Richard Patrick Dunn of GA; sisters include: Carolyn Sue Stant, Doris Holwager, Ellen and brother-in-law Denny Shull, all of Indiana; any nephews and nieces, cousins, extended family members and lifetime friends. She spoke often of Donetta Richardson and Rozella Rehmel. She particularly enjoyed spending time with Luann Platt and Leann Dinsmore and their children, Emmalyn, Dalton, Dakota & Cheyenne on their visits to see her in GA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son- in- law, Richard Douglas Dunn of GA; brother- in- law, Leon Stant of IN, both of whom she loved dearly; sisters: Agnes Willis, Audrey Wheatley, Zola Stone, Maxine Viers, Emma Jean & brother--in-law Jim Webb, brothers include: Edison Rose, Carl Gilbert Rose, Arthur "Dutch" Rose, Max Rose, William Donald Rose, Otis & sister- in-law Loretta Thomas & James Earl Thomas all of Indiana; also any extended nephews and nieces, cousins, family members and lifetime friends.
She loved her grandsons, Richard Patrick and Nathan Paul enormously and she will forever be their guardian angel. Martha was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She will be greatly missed and is now at peace in heaven.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Martha will be held on Saturday, Jan. 5, at 1 pm. Location of service: is Price Road Community Church, 4807 Patterson Lane, Gainesville, GA 30534.
