He retired from Crane NWSC in 1979 where he worked as an inspector in Process & Quality Control. He was a charter member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Linton, and he truly enjoyed his grandchildren. He was an Army veteran of WW II where he served in the South Pacific.
Survivors include his wife, Priscilla (Greenwood) Laughlin, to whom he was married Jan. 6, 1947; a son, Jeff (Judi) Laughlin of Linton; a daughter, Jana (Rick) Shouse of Linton; seven grandchildren, Chris (Cathy) Followell of Linton, Aaron (Charity) Shouse of LaPorte, April (Joe) Gambill of Linton, Jennifer (Chris) Wathen of Linton, Andrea (Tim) Squires of Linton, Jamie (Scott) Fitch of New Castle, and Jeff Laughlin of Muncie; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jo'E Bovenschen; a grandson, Brian Miller; two sisters, Viola Haseman and Mildred Koller; two brothers, Lewis "Guy" Laughlin and Ray Laughlin; and an infant brother and infant sister.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton, Pastor Doris Sparks and Rev. James Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thurs. and at 10 a.m. Friday until the hour of the service.
The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Community Food Pantry through the funeral home.
