He was born in Greene County on March 8, 1946 to Charles Martin "Shad" and Helen Freda (Thatcher) Figg.
He was a 1964 Coal City High School graduate. He then served in the Army during the Vietnam War. Bob worked at Wettereau for 36 years before retiring and most recently worked at the Putnamville Correctional Facility. He was a member of the American Legion. Bob enjoyed farming, especially raising cattle.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Patricia (Walker) Figg; sons, Charles Robert "Chuck" (Jeannie) Figg, Jr. of Spencer, Clayburn Martin "Marty" Figg of Worthington, Jason Michael Morley of Spencer; daughters, Carrie Ann (Todd) Dennison of Gosport, and Michelle Marie (Andrew) Key of Orleans; brothers, Noland (Gloria) Figg of Spencer and Frank (Marty) Figg of Freedom; sister, Joy (Al) Madero of Wichita, Kan. and seven grandchildren.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 31, 2012 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer with Pastor Nick Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Bethel Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-6 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 30 and 9 a.m. until time of service on Monday.
