TERRE HAUTE - Class 2A No. 7 Linton-Stockton got 22 points from Dess Fougerousse and 20 from Austin Karazsia on their way to a 78-46 rout of South Vermillion in the consolation bracket of the Wabash Valley Classic at Terre Haute South Vigo High School here Friday night.

In what was little more than a fast-paced work out for the Miners, things went well early and often as they rattled off a big lead and never looked back. The game was a stark contrast from their disappointing loss to Sullivan on Thursday night.

"We were just too big for them," Linton-Stockton (6-1) coach Joey Hart said. "We were able to get some guys some rest for tomorrow. It's going to be a good challenge."

This time around everything that could go right for Linton-Stockton did. That includes jumping to a 19-6 lead at the end of the first quarter, extending the margin to 39-19 at the half and in one of the most prolific scoring performances by any Greene County team this season, buliding a 66-27 lead after three quarters.

"I thought early on we did reverse the ball better," Hart said. "We stood around with the ball last night when Sam (Dyar) was gone and it seemed like we lost our identity for a while.

"But we moved the ball much better today."

After the halftime break, the Miner offense fired on all cylinders and left any hope the Wildcats may of held of mounting a comeback to at least make the game competitive fell by the wayside.

Linton-Stockton outscored SVHS 27-8 and didn't miss a shot in 11 attempts.

Karazsia, Keith Fulk, Fougerousse and Bryant Jackson all got into the act as the Miners went on a 13-2 spurt to open the quarter, then finished up with a 14-6 dash.

In the frame Karazsia scored from inside the paint three times, Fougerousse - who was a perfect 4 for 4 from 3-point range - register three of his treys in the frame in support of three deuces.

The game afford Hart the chance to see a lot of younger players in game action. All except point guard Dyar who was injured on opening night against Sullivan and sidelined with a knee injury for an indefinite span.

"We were able to get the young kids some minutes," Hart said. "The (Joe) Dieball kid got to play and we were real excited about his future anyway, we just didn't think it would be this soon."

The freshman finished the game with six points and three rebounds to go along with a team-high four steals.

"He's probably the most athletic kid we've got in the gym," Hart said. "

The Miners now advance to Saturday's consolation bracket semifinal where they will take another try at defeating Casey-Westfield in the WVC.

The Warriors advanced to the 4 p.m. contest against Linton-Stockton following a 68-49 win over West Vigo.

"Hopefully we can finally get Casey," Hart said. "We've lost to them three years in a row, so it's about time that we beat them."
