Wolverines lose at Bloomington South

Bloomington South jumped out to a 16-3 lead and cruised to a 57-34 victory over visiting White River Valley in a high school boys basketball game in Monroe County Saturday night.

South, who improved to 4-4, led 29-9 at intermission.

WRV, who slipped to 5-2, only managed to make 28 percent of its shots -- 11 of 39. The Wolverines were 4 of 15 -- 27 percent -- from 3-point range.

White River Valley also committed 16 turnovers and was outrebounded 28-11.

Michael Fisher connected on half of his field goals -- 4 of 8 -- and missed just once in four attempts from 3-point range as he finished with 11 points to pace WRV.

South won the junior varsity contest 60-25.

WRV will open play as the host of the Greene County Invitational at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3 against Bloomfield.
