Cards lose conference game

Thursday, January 3, 2013

North Central made 16 of 24 free throws compared to 8 of 20 for Bloomfield as the host LadyBirds defeated the Lady Cardinals 48-44 in a Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conference high school girls basketball game at Farmersburg Thursday night.

North Central improved to 5-8, 2-4 while BHS slipped to 4-8, 2-3.

"You don't have to look at the stats far to see the difference in the game," said Bloomfield coach Chris Hitchcock. "It was a game of runs and we came back and tied it at 41-all.

"After that, it was a possession by possession game. They hit free throws at the end and we didn't."

Bloomfield was led in scoring by Alicia Hasler, who scored 14 points.

The Lady Cards won the junior varsity game 36-4.

Bloomfield will play a varsity-only game at 1 p.m. Saturday at Loogootee.
