She was born in Greene County on April 2, 1925, the daughter of Cecil A. and Edna (Johnson) Weaver.
Mrs. Knowles had been a life-long resident of Greene County until moving to Indianapolis in 2002. She had been a member of First Baptist Church in Linton.
She was a homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Mrs. Knowles had worked as a seamstress at a parachute plant and at Crane, NAD during World War II. Later in life she worked in the bakery / deli at Angell's Food Center in Linton and served as a volunteer at Greene County General Hospital.
Mrs. Knowles is survived by her two sons, Gearold (Susan) L. Knowles of Potomac, MD and Dan Knowles of Indianapolis; five grandchildren, Catherine Knowles of Washington, DC, John (Melissa) Knowles of Asheville, NC, Philip Knowles of Gaithersburg, MD, Danielle (Josh) Knowles Goodman of Linton, and Dyan (Rich) Knowles Wilkes of Lyons; and three great-grandchildren, Cameron Goodman, Dylan Wilkes, and Delaney Wilkes; and her two brothers, Cecil L. Weaver of Bedford, IN and Harold E. Weaver of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Gearold Everett Knowles, on November 10, 2010, and her parents.
A graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Linton at 11:00 a.m. on Tues., Jan. 8, 2013, with Rev. David Tyra officiating.
No public visitation will be held.
