TERRE HAUTE -- A Jasonville woman escaped serious injury in an accident Wednesday afternoon in the Terre Haute area, according to a report by WTWO-TV in Terre Haute.

The accident occurred around 1 p.m. at train tracks on U.S. 41 just north of Harlan Drive.

Denise Ricketts, 57, was stopped in the northbound passing lane at the rail crossing when her car was hit in the back by a truck driven by Kade Michael King, 20, of Dugger.

The impact pushed Ricketts' car onto the tracks, but she was able to regain her composure and move her damaged car out of the path of the train.

Ricketts was reported to have been hurt but her injuries were non-life threatening.

A passenger in King's car, Cheryl Sue Pickard, 42, of Brazil was not hurt.

According to WTWO, King was cited for not slowing down to avoid an accident and not wearing a seat belt.
