Eastern Greene loses to Martinsville

Sunday, January 13, 2013

Martinsville won its third straight, defeating visiting Eastern Greene 61-37 in a non-conference high school girls basketball game Saturday afternoon.

The 8-8 Lady Artesians led Eastern Greene (5-8) 39-20 at the half.

"I was very proud of the girls," said EGHS coach Zack Stevens. "Although the score might not indicate it, the girls competed as well as they have all season from the opening tip to the final horn.

"Martinsville has a very good program. They have very good athletes. At times, we got them out of their comfort zone. The girls really played hard and competed for 32 minutes."

Kym Arthur made three, 3-pointers and tallied 13 points to lead Eastern Greene.

Martinsville also won the junior varsity game 49-11.

The Lady Thunderbirds will host Shakamak in a Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conference game Thursday.
