Traffic stop leads to manhunt

Monday, January 14, 2013

EDWARDSPORT -- Police from several agencies are looking for a man who fled during a traffic stop and may be armed.

On Friday night, Edwardsport Marshal's Office Deputies Kevin Abrams and Kent Van Wey stopped a car at State Road 67 and Jackson St. after noticing the license plate was obstructed.

Chelsie Davis of Monroe City was driving the car and it was occupied by her cousin, passenger Brandon Crowe of Washington.

Crowe immediately fled on foot wearing all dark colors and camouflage clothing. He eluded capture after a short foot pursuit.

Officers then found a loaded rifle under a baby seat in the vehicle.

Units from the Marshal's Office were assisted in the search for Crowe by the Bicknell Police Department, the Indiana State Police and the Knox County Sheriff's Department.

A Bicknell officer later pursued Crowe again. He had obtained a four-wheeler, but Crowe again eluded capture.

Davis was arrested on a preliminary charge of assisting a criminal and an additional warrant is being sought for Crowe.

Anyone with information about this incident or Crowe's whereabouts is asked to contact a law enforcement agency: the Edwardsport Marshal at (812) 890-2035, or your local sheriff's department - the Greene County Sheriff's Department number is (812) 384-4411.

Anonymous tips may also be called in to Greene County Crimestoppers at (812) 847-5463 or (812) TIP-LINE which is the main phone number. Locally, Crimestoppers also has a toll-free number so that all Greene County residents can call in at no cost to the caller. The toll-free number is (866) 446-4672.

Ok, why was Davis charged with assisting a criminal? Did Crowe already have a warrant, that Davis would know she was doing wrong? I am not saying Davis is innocent, I don't even know them, but to me this is just another example of the Daily World stating what they have been told without asking investigative questions.
