The Linton Police Department's activity log for Monday included three follow-up investigations, one assist to the utility department after hours, one drug investigation, one report of animal cruelty, one missing or runaway juvenile, one accident with property damage, one lost and found, three medical/illness, one suspicious vehicle or person, one assist to another agency, one child abuse or neglect, and one traffic stop.
* Jan. 11 -- Police responded to an accident involving two vehicles at the intersection of State Road 54 and Lone Tree Road around 9:40 p.m. Two vehicles were turning left onto the highway from the county road when the first stopped abruptly for a vehicle traveling on the highway that ran a red light. The driver of the second vehicle was unable to stop before rear-ending the first. No injuries were reported by property damage was estimated between $1,000-2,500. LPD Patrolman Paul Clark was the investigating officer.
* Jan. 11 -- Chelsea Michelle Pigg, 20, Linton, was arrested after officers were called to the Dollar General Store on the west side of Linton around 7:30 p.m. An employee of the store told officers they had observed Pigg stealing items from the store. The suspect was located a short distance away from the store. The police report states officers verified that Pigg had stolen items. She was taken into custody without incident and transported to jail where she was being held on $4,000 bond on a preliminary charge of theft, a class D felony. LPD Patrolman Brock Garrison was the investigating officer. He was assisted on the scene by LPD Sgt. Josh Goodman and Indiana State Police Trooper Richard Klun.
