ELNORA -- A battle of two state-ranked Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conference high school boys basketball teams here Friday night turned out to be a blowout.

The Class 2A No. 8 Linton-Stockton Miners had maybe its most impressive performance of the season, dismantling host Class A No. 5 North Daviess 36-14.

The Miners, who pushed their record to 11-2 overall and 3-0 in the conference, took a page out of the North Daviess playbook, using patience and execution to dismantle the Cougars.

On the first possession of the second half, the Miners patiently worked against the Cougar man-to-man defense. They used just six seconds short of three minutes before Austin Karazsia scored on a lay-up as the Miners led 20-10.

"I thought the kids showed great composure," said Linton-Stockton coach Joey Hart. "You have to give North Daviess credit, they are a good program that does things the right way. They forced us to get better this week.

"We really showed how patient we can be at the start of the second half. You have to give the kids all the credit for this one. I have never been more proud of them. People have called us crazy Linton and dumb Linton, but the kids really played well tonight."

Karazsia finished with 17 points and seven rebounds, including doing all of the Miner scoring as the visitors led 9-6 after the first quarter.

If Karazsia dominated the first half scoring 13 points, Dess Fougerousse took over in the final two quarters.

Fougerousse scored 10 of his 15 after intermission. His consecutive hoops gave the Miners a 24-10 lead after the third quarter.

North Daviess, who slipped to 11-3, 2-1, went scoreless in the third quarter and went over 14 minutes without a field goal. For the game, they missed 28 of 34 shots (.176). They also did not attempt a foul shot compared to the Miners, who made 5 of 6.

ND coach Brent Dalrymple took his starters out with five minutes remaining.

"Coach Dalrymple and I are good friends," said Hart. "He came over and told me they just couldn't score.

"They have Barr-Reeve tomorrow and we caught them on the right night."

Fougerousse led the Miners with nine rebounds as Linton-Stockton had a 25-20 advantage on the glass.

Bryant Jackson hounded North Daviess guard Nick Crays all night. Crays missed 9 of 11 shots and finished with a team-high five points.

"Bryant Jackson blocked a big shot by Brooks Weszely early this year against Sullivan," said Hart. "He is showing that he really can defend against good point guards.

In the junior varsity game, North Daviess won 31-21.

Drew Witty scored five points for the Miners. Beau Eaton scored four points, Zach Johnson three, Jacob Clothier, Pierce Jackson, Joe Dieball and Zach Riddell each scored two and Calvin Allen added one. Zach Phegley also played.

The Miners will host Union at 6 p.m. Tuesday in another conference game.
