Leona Mae Seifert, 88, of Jasonville, IN., passed away at 2:50 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013 at Shakamak Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Jasonville.
She was born Dec. 17, 1924 in Hammond, IN to Harold J. Evans and Grace (Hoover) Evans.
Survivors include her husband, Robert "Bob" Seifert of Jasonville, whom she married on Jan. 6, 1949; daughters and sons-in-law, Grace Marie and Robert Schultz of DeMotte, IN, Judith Ann and Thomas Mathewson of Plymouth, IN, Sherry Lee and Raymond LeMasters of Linton; sons and daughters-in-law, David J. Seifert of Jasonville, Robert Joseph and Ina Seifert of Hammond, IN, Donald Eugene and Suzanne Seifert of Valparaiso, IN; 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Shirley Grimmett of Kentucky, Ruth and Wallace Shoate of Schereville, IN, Mary Janice Evans of Schereville, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Leona was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and caring for her family. She enjoyed yard sales and playing cards.
Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, IN with visitation scheduled from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday at the Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24 at the Cox Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Messmer officiating.
Cremation will follow funeral services at Leona's request.
