Lakers down Thunderbirds for eighth win

The Shakamak Lakers won their third game in their last four tries following a 60-38 victory over Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conference rival North Central Saturday night at Farmersburg.

The Lakers now stand 8-9 overall and 3-3 in the SWIAC while the Thunderbirds dropped to 5-10 and remain winless in five tries in league play.

Shakamak led wire-to-wire mounting a 16-8 lead after one quarter, a 28-19 edge at the intermission before leading 42-26 at the end of three quarters.

Brodie Crowe exploded for 24 points to lead Shakamak followed by 16 from Patrick Green while Kyle Schubla added eight.

Brandon Morin and Jeff Bessling added four each for the winners while Braden Cox and Dylan Collins checked out with two points each.

The Lakers return to action Friday when they host Clay City.
