INDIANAPOLIS ---- District 62 State Rep. Matt Ubelhor (R-Bloomfield) and other House legislators and staff wore sneakers at the Statehouse Tuesday in support of the "Suits and Sneakers" challenge to promote awareness of the fight against cancer.

According to the American Cancer Society, last year 35,000 Hoosiers heard the words "you have cancer," and of those, 13,000 lost their lives to the disease. Suits and Sneakers is a program sponsored by the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches to help raise cancer awareness and support those affected by it.

"Sadly, we all know someone who has been personally affected by cancer," said Rep. Ubelhor. "It's hard to know how to react and how to help those people, but one thing we can do is raise awareness and show compassion on those families."

"It was wonderful to partner with the American Cancer Society and Indiana's collegiate coaches on this issue and help raise awareness," said Rep. Ubelhor. "Something as simple as wearing tennis shoes with a suit can go a long way to show you care about the battles people are fighting."
