He was born March 31, 1931 in Linton, the son of Willard C. and Edith E. (Burrell) Stewart.
He worked for 44 years at Coca-Cola in Linton as the Cooler Service Manager and at the Linton Wal-Mart since 1998. He was a member of Nine Mile Methodist Church of Linton, Switz City Masonic Lodge 676, the Linton Elks Lodge 866, and Scottish Rite of Terre Haute.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Rosina (Nolting) Stewart, to whom he was married May 17, 1957, a son, John (Angie) Stewart of Switz City, and special young friends, Tyler Gwaltney and Kaylee Buckallew.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Anita Inman, Kathleen Driver,and Anna Trower.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7 at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton with Pastor John Pierce officiating. Burial will follow at Switz City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, and from 11 a.m. on Thursday until the hour of the service. The Switz City Masonic Lodge will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
