Seven adults and one juvenile were taken into custody over the weekend after Deputy Marshal Marvin Holt of the Bloomfield Police Department was dispatched to an apartment complex to check on an unusual smell.

All were booked in early Sunday to the Greene County Jail on preliminary charges involving dealing or possession of marijuana, one with a felony count, the rest with misdemeanor counts.

Bloomfield Town Marshal Ken Tharp said the call came in around 12:30 a.m. from a person with a complaint about an unusual odor in an entryway of the Village Apartments located on West Turner Street in Bloomfield.

Marshal Holt was dispatched and reported the odor smelled like burnt marijuana.

Further investigation by Holt, assisted by BPD Reserve Officer Jordan Allor and Greene County Sheriff's Deputies Bobby Pierce and Jordan Gooding, resulted in the arrests.

Tharp reported all of the suspects were located in the same apartment.

According to jail booking information, three of the suspects listed home addresses in the apartment complex.
