The Bloomfield-Eastern Greene Public Library will be hosting a community forum next week to gather input.
Library director Cassandra Thompson said the library is working on their new strategic plan, which is done every three years.
Thompson said community leaders and community members are invited to the forum Tuesday at Pepperoni Grill to discuss the direction they would like to see the library go.
The forum will begin at 5:30 p.m.
This will be an interactive forum, in which input will be gladly accepted.
"We are going to discuss where Greene County is headed what the library can do to meet upcoming challenges, specifically with service priorities in mind," Thompson explained.
Thompson said specifically they would like to work with service organizations to ensure citizens stay informed and have access to current events.
The library wants to be able to partner with service organizations to create the best experience for the patrons.
"Another service priority for us is imagination. What are our residents able to access that sparks creativity? What are ways they can express themselves through art?" Thompson explained.
Organizations that have been invited specifically include the Rotary Club, county government officials, the library's board of directors, Friends of the Library, the Greene County Literacy Coalition and the Greene County Alliance.
"We have been advertising at the library for our patrons as well because, of course, they are the ones we are working for ... We would really love for the community's help as we go forward," Thompson said.
She noted those who are unable to attend the meeting can still participate through an online survey by visiting www.bloomfield.lib.in.us/survey.
There are two separate surveys available for community organizations and patrons.
Thompson said the input will allow patrons to advise on what direction they would like the library to take.
"That's why we are using surveys as well as service priorities, so people have an opportunity to share information on their expertise. For example, coming from service organization -- how can we support them in what they do and how can we partner with them?" Thompson said.
