* The Dugger Town Council will meet in special session at noon to discuss potential water contracts with Linton Mayor John Wilkes. The meeting will be open to the public.

* The Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce will host its annual dinner at 6:30 p.m. at WestGate Academy. Guest speaker will be former Lt. Governor and CEO of Radius Indiana Becky Skillman.

* The Linton Assembly of God will host Ron and Sandy Horton at 7 p.m. They will be singing and signing. Hearing impaired will be especially blessed. Everyone is welcome.

* The Linton Public Library will host an author night, featuring Ruby Moon-Houldson, from 5 to 7 p.m. She will be talking about her "More than Angels" series. She will be focusing on bullying and abuse. Moon-Houldson encourages youth and parents to attend.

* Worthington Garden Club will host Longaberger Pottery Bingo at the community Building in the Worthington Park Doors open at 5 p.m. Bingo at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10. Call for availability: 875-8811 or 875-3287 or see a garden club member There will be food, desserts, and drinks to purchase. Proceeds will go towards the Worthington Garden Park.

* The Lyons Senior Center County Travelers Band will have a chili dinner with desserts from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7.

Friday, Nov. 8

* There will be a Veterans Day celebration sponsored by Southern Care Hospice at Linton Nursing and Rehab at 10 a.m. and at Shakamak Good Samaritan at 2 p.m.

* Breckenridge Commons will be honoring all veterans with a special service and free ham and bean dinner. The American Legion will be on hand for a flag folding ceremony and gun salute. The service begins at 11:30 a.m. All veterans and the community are invited to this special event. Breckenridge Commons is located at 2009 N. Hopital Lane in Sullivan. * Bloomfield School District honor our veterans with a special program at 1:30 p.m. in the Glover Gym. All veterans are cordially invited to attend this event.

* Providence Baptist Church will host a weekend revival today through Sunday. Friday and Saturday services will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday services will be at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. For more information, please contact Pastor Darren McDonald at 847-8519.

Saturday, Nov. 9

* The Richland Township Fire and Rescue will host a soup supper from 4 to 8 p.m. at the station located at 416 E. Furnace Road in Bloomfield. Chili and vegetable soup, desserts, and drinks. Cost is by donation. Quilt raffle with drawing for winner that evening.

* Shakamak High School Junior Class will host a Turkey Trot 5K Race/Walk and one mile fun run at Shakamak State Park. Registration starts at 8 a.m. and the fun run starts at 9 a.m. The 5K starts at 9:30 a.m. Cost is $20 and this includes a shirt. We are raising money for Grand March and Post Prom.

* Linton Moose will have a steak, pork chop and shrimp dinner at 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and karaoke at 8 p.m. Members and guests welcome.

* The Owen Valley Band and Guard Boosters are hosting an Arts and Craft Fair from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the Owen Valley Middle School Cafeteria. Programs supported by the Boosters include marching band, winter guard, percussion theatre, jazz band and concert band as well as the repair of musical instruments.Any type of art or craft items are welcome at the event. Booth spaces will be 10x10, and will cost $25.00 for non-electric and $35.00 for supplied electric. * The ninth annual Greene County Literacy Coalition Trivia Bowl will be at noon at the Saron United Church of Christ in Linton. The cost to participate is $20 per person or $80 for a four person team. For more information, contact Beth Burcham at 812-384-4125.

* The American Legion Auxiliary No. 106 in Worthington Veteran's Dinner will be at 1 p.m. with the essay presentation at 2 p.m. Menu will include pork loin, fried chicken, sides, desserts, tea and coffee. Donations accepted.

Monday, Nov. 11

* The Wabash Valley Catholic Charity will host a food drive at the main shelter house at the Dugger Park at 10 a.m.

* The Wood Club will meet at 7 p.m. in the Shakamak Elementary cafeteria.

* The Creative Writing/Photography Club at Linton Public Library will meet at 4:30 p.m.-5:15 p.m. and Gaming Time will be from 5:15-6:15 p.m. on the Big Screen (We now have MarioKart!).

* The Lyons Senior Center will have a nurse on hand to do free blood pressure screanings.

* Eastern Greene High School will be hosting a Veterans' Day program at 9 a.m. This is an opportunity to recognize veterans for their service and dedication. We continue to believe it is important for our students to be reminded of the influence of those who have served our country. Guest speaker is Navy veteran Lonnie Bedwell. Following the ceremony, the journalism class will be hosting a reception in the high school cafeteria. * White River Valley High School is hosting a Veterans Day program in the high school gym at 9 a.m. Tim Kerzan, an Army veteran, will be the featured speaker. Presentations by the speech students will follow along with performances by the junior high and high school band.We value our veterans and all they have given, so we would like to invite all of them, as well as the community.

* The Greene County Veterans Council will host its Veterans Day Service at 11 a.m. on the Courthouse Lawn. CDR Jeff Giles, Supply Management Department Director Midwest for Fleet Logistics Center Norfolk, USN, will be the guest speaker. In case of inclement weather, it will be at American Legion Post 196 in Bloomfield.

* Linton-Stockton High School will be hosting the Veteran's Day Program at 8:15 a.m. in the High School gym with Dr. Bob Smiley as our guest speaker. In addition, a reception for Veterans will be held at 8 a.m.

* The 2013 Veteran's Memorial Service will be hosted at 1 p.m. on the lawn of Anderson-Poindexter Funeral Home on North Main Street. Guest speaker will be Mike Dean, Chief Warrant Officer Three USA (Ret.). In the event of incliment weather, the service will be moved inside the chapel. Refreshments will be served after the service.

* The Metropolitan School District of Shakamak would like to invite you to attend the 26th annual "Salute to Veterans" Program. It will be at 9:30 a.m. in the high school gymnasium. We will be honoring all veterans, firefighters, law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel. Refreshments will be provided for our honored guests. Everyone is invited to attend.

Tuesday, Nov. 12

* The meeting of the executive board of the Greene-Sullivan Special Education Cooperative will meet in executive session at 8:30 a.m. with the regular meeting to follow at 10:30 a.m. in the conference room of the cooperative, located at 77 A St. NE in Linton.

* The National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Bloomfield Chapter 847 will meet at Stoll's Country Inn at Linton. The luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m. and the business meeting will follow at 12:30. A Blue Cross Insurance representative is scheduled to attend to discuss 2014 changes. All federal employees, retirees and spouses are welcome.

* The Greene County General Hospital Associatin will host the regular meeting at 5:15 p.m. in the Greene County General Hospital LLC office, located at 2127 E. SR 54 in Linton.

* "Harvest Blessing Wall Decoration" at Linton Public Library from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. This program costs $5 to attend. Come Make a Beautiful Thanksgiving Wall Decoration! Would be really pretty to display for Thanksgiving! You have to be signed up for this program to attend. Please call the library (847-7802) or stop at the front desk in the library to sign up.

* The regular meeting of the Greene County Sheriff's Merit Board will meet at 6 p.m. in the conference room at the Greene County Jail.

* The Linton Chapter of Gamma Tau Tri Kappa will host Kappa Kanvas Kreations a the Old Bank & Co. All supplies will be provided and finished projects can be taken home. All ages are welcome. * A Greene County Tourism Meeting will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Greene County Fairgrounds Building. The Greene County Tourism Advisory Board (GCTAB) encourages anyone interested in promoting Greene County Tourism to attend. * The Solsberry American Legion, Post No. 450, The Sons of the Legion and th Legion Auxiliary Unit 450 will have their annual Thanksgiving dinner at the post. There will be a carry in dinner at 6 p.m. Bring your own table service. There will be a silent auction and door prizes.

*The Lyons Senior Center will host a sausage, eggs and biscuits and gravy breakfast and a bake sale on Saturday, Nov. 16 from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Sunday, Nov. 17

* Join Blessed Hope Baptist Church as we host Brother Brooks Suttle. Brother Suttle is a church planter to Maine and will be telling of his work and burden. * The "Joy of Jesus" signers will present a program of gospel music and signing in the Family Room of Glenburn Home at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3.

Wednesday, Nov. 6

* A concert of gospel and worship music will be presented at the Jasonville Assembly of God on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. The concert will feature "The Young Africans," a choir of 14 students from Kenya and Uganda, Africa.

Saturday, Dec. 7

* Walnut Grove Church will be hosting a revival Nov. 10 with homecoming services at 9 a.m. for Sunday School, 10 a.m. for church service, lunch at noon, Homecoming service at 2 p.m. and revival with Paul Myers speaking. There will be revivals at 7 p.m. Nov. 11, 12, and 14 with Paul Myers speaking.

* The Friends of the Library in Bloomfield is having a November book sale special right in time for holiday shopping. The Friends of the Library will sell their book sale items for $2 per bag. New items are always being added. Stop in today.

* The Greene County Humane Society is hosting a "Don't Litter Special" the whole month of November. A coupon is available to spay or neuter dogs 50 pounds and under for $50 and cats six months and older for $30. There are additional charges for dogs over 50 pounds, in heat, nursing or pregnant. * Santa is scheduled to arrive in Downtown Linton on Friday, Nov. 29 at 5 p.m until 7 p.m. He'll be making stops at his Workshop located in the Rotary Park throughout the month of December. Dec. 2 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 11 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, dec. 14 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, Dec. 20 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 21 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 22 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

* The solo show of Donna Kluesner entitled "Eye of the Beholder" will be on exhibit in the southeast gallery at the Carnegie Heritage & Arts Center of Greene County beginning Oct 3 through November 9, 2013. Kluesner works in acrylic, oil and watercolor. Her poetry will also be showcased along with her paintings. The Carnegie Heritage & Arts Center is located at 110 East Vincennes St. in Linton. * The Lions Club of Worthington meets every first and third Tuesday at the Municipal Building in Worthington at 7p.m. Anyone interested in becoming a member is welcome to attend.

* Applications for low-income families to obtain clothing and toys for their children at Christmas through the Greene County Clothe-a-Child Project are available beginning October 1, 2013 and continuing until October 31, 2013 at the following locations: Greene County Division of Family Resources (104 CR 70E, Bloomfield); Linton-Stockton Chamber of Commerce (159 1st St. NW); Bloomfield Town Hall (12 E. Main); Jasonville Utility Office (304 W. Main); and Worthington Town Hall (SR 67). Families living in Greene County school districts who meet income guidelines are eligible to receive benefits for children 12-years-old and under. Families who are approved will get vouchers to shop for new clothing for each eligible child, and a selection of toys will be provided. Applications must be returned to any of the above locations or postmarked by November 1, 2013 to PO Box 516, Linton, IN 47441. Families will be notified by mail early in December whether their applications are approved.

* The Bloomfield Eastern Greene Public Library will host a banned book club the first Thursday of every month at 5:30 p.m. in the Community Room.

* Kids Count Preschool of Greene County, Inc. is a non-profit preschool serving 3 to 5 year olds and their families in Greene County. It offers half-day and full-day preschool in the eastern Greene County area. It has been serving the community for over 10 years and currently have spots available. * Monthly Lyons Veterans Memorial Committee meetings are on the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m., in the basement of the Lyons United Methodist Church.

* ALS Support Group (Lou Gehrig's Disease): Those with ALS and their loved ones are invited to attend the ALS Association's monthly support group meeting. * There will be a Celtic Jam Session the first Sunday of the month at the "Big Yellow House", located at 276 W. Main St in Bloomfield, from 7 to 10 p.m. It will feature traditional Irish, Scottish and Old-Time Music. All skill levels are welcome, from novice to virtuoso (acoustic instruments only please). * Teens: There are four events for you each month, starting in September at the Linton Public Library: On the second Monday of each month a Combined Creative Writing/Photography Club 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. and Teen Gaming Time 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. Also, on the fourth Monday of each month there will be a Teen Book Club from 4:30-5 p.m. and Teen Crafts 5:15-6:15 p.m.

* The local Christian Men's Prayer Breakfast meets Tuesday at 7 a.m. for a time of fellowship, breakfast, singing and short message from one of the group. Various people from local churches participate. You are welcome to come early and visit before breakfast, which is held at the First United Methodist Church located at 150 N. 2nd St. in Linton. * The Linton Church of Christ is starting a van ministry for youth along with the people without a way to church. If you need to be picked up, please call Youth Minister JD Johnson at 798-5662 before 8 p.m. on Saturday or in case of emergency, Sunday at 9 a.m. This service will pick you up before Sunday school, which starts at 9:30 a.m., along with Sunday services beginning at 6 p.m.

* The AARP Foundation Senior Employment Service is looking for workers 55 or older who need help finding full or part-time employment. This is a free service. You may qualify for immediate paid job training assignments. We help you get job ready and then help you with job leads and referrals. * The Worthington Senior Citizens Center, located downtown on North Commercial St., hosts an evening of euchre every Tuesday evening starting at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome. For more information call the center at 875-2525.

* Union Church will be starting gospel sings the third Saturday of each month. The Evening Light Gospel Singers (Lowell and Brenda Flynn) will be the featured singers along with the locals. * The National Guard Grandmother's Club will meet the first Monday of each month at 2 p.m. at the VFW Lodge in Linton.

* The Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library provides free delivery of materials to any homebound patron living within the service district. Residents of Richland, Beech Creek, Highland, Center, Taylor, and Jackson Townships are all eligible for the service. Permanent or temporary homebound patrons are encouraged to contact the library at 384-4125 to begin delivery service.

* Alanon Family Group meetings will be Mondays from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Linton Church of Christ, 4th St. in Linton.

* The Luke House, located at 128 S. Crowder St. in Sullivan, has meetings open to the public and the schedule is as follows: Mondays Christian 12-step program 6 to 7 p.m. and as a Narcotics Anonymous from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays from 6 to 7 p.m. there will be a motivation class. * Child Passenger Safety Technicians at the Greene County Sheriff's Department's Permanent Fitting Station, certified through the Automotive Safety Program at Riley Hospital for Children at the IU School of Medicine, are available to inspect safety seats and offer hands-on instruction on how to properly install your seat in your vehicle. They can make sure you have the car seat that fits your child best and that is properly secured in your vehicle. They may also be able to provide a car seat to families in need who meet income guidelines and in emergency circumstances when a child needs a seat immediately as a result of a fire or vehicle crash. * The Worthington American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 106 will host Bingo every Friday night. Doors will open at 4 p.m. and Bingo will start at 6:15 p.m. Food is available for sale during each session.

* The Worthington First Baptist Church, located at the corner of Park and Dayton streets, will host youth groups every Tuesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Kid's Club (4-years-old to fifth grade) will meet in the church and Four12 (sixth to 12th grade) will meet in the fellowship hall. * Meals on Wheels is now available at the Lyons Senior Citizens Center starting at 11:30 a.m. Please call 847-3509 the day before you plan to attend. For those who are homebound and need meals delivered, call 2-1-1 or 1-800-742-9002.

* Bingo at the American Legion in Worthington is on Fridays. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. with games at 6:15 p.m. This is open to the public. Cost is $30 for 15 games All proceeds go to the Worthington American Legion. This event is non-smoking with breaks made for smokers to go outdoors.

* A 12-Step Overcomers Recovery Support meeting is every Wednesday at the Family Life Center on the east side of the square in Bloomfield from 7:30-8:30 p.m. Come and join us to overcome life-controlling problems of all sorts with Bible principles, prayer, memory verses and weekly support. * The Lyons Community Food Pantry at 150 East Broad Street (the old fire station) will be open from 4-6 p.m. the third Monday of every month, and the first Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to noon. The pantry serves zip codes 47443, 47449, and 47465.

* Mineral United Methodist Church will have Bible study from 7 - 8 p.m. on the second, third and fourth Wednesdays of the month.

* Lebanon Baptist Food Pantry will only be open on the fourth Thursday of each month from 6-7:30 p.m.

* The Refuge Assembly of God food pantry will be open every Wednesday from 1-5 p.m. to assist those living in Bloomfield. To donate, please contact Trina at 384-8093 during the pantry's open hours.

* The Mineral Christian Men's Group meets at 8 a.m. every third Saturday of the month at the Mineral Community Building.

* House of Grace Coffee House will offer fellowship, food, worship and youth classes. The church is located at 792 S. Section St. in Dugger.

* The Pleasantville United Methodist Church food pantry is now open on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month from 10:30 a.m. - noon.

* The Lyons First Christian Church youth group meets at 6 p.m. on Mondays at the church's East Broad Street location.
