Linton Rotary Gives Thanks for Their Community

To the Editor:

The Linton Rotary Club held their weekly meeting on 11/20/2013. In keeping with the Thanksgiving Season members were asked to share why they are thankful for their community. We have an amazing community and we wanted to share with you why we're glad to be part of the Linton Community.

-I'm thankful for the sense of pride, hospitality, and friendliness of our community. This Rotarian stated when they moved to town, they were amazed at the people who waved at him even though it was likely they didn't know him.

-I enjoy going to work every day as I work with fantastic people and have wonderful patients.

-I'm glad I live in Linton because of the strong community network that we share, the individuals and clubs, like Rotary, that step up to the plate to make the lives of people in our community better and more fulfilling.

-I'm thankful to live in Linton because of several reasons: Small town- ability to create relationships, safe, good climate and change of seasons, affordability of housing, easily accessible to larger cities, good school and MINER FOOTBALL!

-I'm thankful to live in a community where so many can come together for a common goal, be it a food drive, relief for personal distress or just get together with friends to fellowship. I'm also thankful for two people who have contributed so much to our city and me personally- Sherman Anderson and Rennis Wolf

-Thankful for the friendliness of the area and thankful for my family.

-Because I grew up in Indianapolis, living in Linton makes me thankful for my kids being able to walk to school safely, there was a soda fountain downtown, people care- my child got hurt and there were people who stepped in to help our family during that time, and I'm thankful for the great outdoor opportunities our area provides

-Every time I go to the "City" I realize how fortunate I am to live in a small town like Linton. I'm thankful that we have more churches than taverns.

-I'm thankful for family that lives close, our friendly community, the distinctiveness of the seasons, lower housing costs, and access to quality health care.

-I'm thankful because we are one of the few communities in which many of the area churches have joined together to address social concerns.

-I'm thankful for the hospital, it's employees and doctors like Dr. Broshears and Dr. Ridge, and our school system

-I am thankful to be living in this community so that my daughter can be closer to her other family members and so she can go to a great school like Linton.

-I'm thankful for family, friends, volunteers, churches and schools

-I'm thankful for a great school system and the people that make it what it is. I'm also thankful to live in a community where the football team meets in the end zone for prayer after a game.

These are just a few of the reasons that people say "You'll Like Linton".

The Linton Rotary Club wishes you all a wonderful Thanksgiving Season.

Sincerely

Mary Beth Jerrells
