UPDATED Breaking news: Police investigating possible homicide
UPDATE at 2 p.m.:
Assistant Police Chief James Gadberry of the Jasonville Police Department confirmed that at 12:55 a.m. on Wednesday, the body of a 25-year-old male was discovered. Officers from the Jasonville Police Department are continuing to investigate along with the Indiana State Police. Gadberry said no additional information can be released as of 2 p.m.
On New Year's Day, law enforcement officers were investigating a possible homicide in the Jasonville area.
Greene County Coroner Sherri Wilson confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that a body was found on Meridian Street in Jasonville sometime during the night and that Deputy Coroner Dave Drew had been on the scene.
No information has been released regarding the identity of the deceased but an autopsy is scheduled to be performed by forensic pathologist Dr. Roland Kohr at 8 a.m. Friday at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute.
Wilson said the circumstances were suspicious, but offered no other details.
The incident is under investigation and no other information has been released.
