BREAKING NEWS: Former Mayor Patrick Turner to replace Nigel Lehman on Linton City Council
Greene County Democratic Party Chairman Jeff Lehman officially named former Linton Mayor Patrick Turner to replace retiring Linton City Councilman Nigel Lehman who recently retired from his District 7 seat.
Turner, who served as mayor prior to the election of Jimmie K. Wright, will fill out the remainder of Nigel Lehman's term.
"He is a former mayor of Linton and he understands the city," the Democratic Chairman said. "I think he'll do a great job."
Jeff Lehman also said the appointment was the best way to not show favoritism prior to the upcoming May primary -- a race that features four candidates. Jerry Ellett, Silas Gennicks, Jerry May and George N. Skeel are all seeking the seat.
"This is the fairest way to do it," Jeff Lehman said. "There's four candidates and you really can't pick one. The winner in the primary will run, so Patrick can fill the seat until the first of the year, then whoever wins the election can take over."
