A low-speed police pursuit that began in Linton early Tuesday, traveled through Jasonville then on into Clay County then back into Greene County before ending with an arrest in a back yard in Worthington, but not before the suspect led officers on a loop through the Worthington Park in the pre-dawn hours.

Dhyanna M. Webster, 33, Worthington, was booked into the Greene County Jail at 7:35 a.m. by Linton Reserve Police Officer Jason Wilson.

Officer Wilson was on routine patrol in Linton during the night when a white passenger car attracted his attention due to erratic driving. He reported suspicious activity as the vehicle was traveling through alleys.

The officer initiated a traffic stop in the area of Southern Indiana WorkWear, when the vehicle was westbound on State Road 54, but when he activated the lights on his patrol vehicle, the car took off.

It was later determined that Webster was the driver, with no passengers.

From Linton, the vehicle traveled to Jasonville, and the Jasonville Police Department responded to assist.

The car then drove on into Clay County and the Clay City area. At that point, the Clay City Police Department responded to assist.

Wilson reported the pursuit continued into the Howesville area then traveled back into Greene County and into Worthington where the vehicle drove through the Worthington Park, then headed south through the town and stopped in a back yard on South Jefferson Street.

Several residents in Worthington said they were awakened early by the number of long-lasting sirens in town before 6:30 a.m.

LPD Police Chief Troy Jerrell said this pursuit was not a high speed chase -- speeds were relatively slow for a pursuit, with top speeds of 45-50 miles per hour.

According to Jerrell, when Webster was taken into custody, she told officers that she thought there was a warrant out for her arrest and she didn't want to go back to jail so she kept driving, intending to continue until she ran out of gas.

Jerrell said there were no outstanding warrants out for Webster at the time of this incident.

"She took what might have been a ticket for a traffic infraction, and turned it into a case with several criminal charges," said Jerrell commenting on Webster's failure to stop.

In addition to her legal trouble in Greene County, Webster may also be facing charges in Clay County related to this incident.

In Greene County, Webster's bond was set at $9,500 surety with ten percent allowed on preliminary charges of felony criminal recklessness, misdemeanor reckless driving with property damage, one felony count of resisting law enforcement and one misdemeanor count of resisting law enforcement.

No injuries were reported.

In addition to the Linton Police Department, personnel assisted from the Jasonville Police Department, Clay City Police Department and the Greene County Sheriff's Department.
