Warren "Buzz" Blackburn

Warren "Buzz" Blackburn, 89, passed away peacefully on February 1. He was born in Royal Oak Michigan on Oct. 25,1926 to Madge and Herbert Blackburn. He grew up in Linton where he met Dorothy "Louise" Peltier. They were married on Dec. 25,1951. He served as a Seaman1st Class in the Navy and attended Radio Naval Training School where he studied sending and receiving of messages in International code. After receiving a honorable discharge from the Navy, he attended Indiana State University where he played baseball and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Drafting and Practical Art. He graduated in 1951. He taught at New Castle High School for two years. He then worked for Detroit Diesel Allison as a Tech Writer and Supervisor until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. After retirement they enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren and winters in Florida. Buzz always enjoyed coaching his grandchildren's Little League baseball teams. He is survived by his daughters, Sherry Clark, Jill S. (Charles) Wolf; grandchildren, Jake (Abby), Zack and Kylie Wolf. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6 at Conkle Funeral Home in Avon with visitation from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in West Ridge Park Cemetery.
