Fundraiser at American Legion Post 196 to help fill the Bloomfield Pool
A fundraiser to benefit the renovation of the Bloomfield Public Pool will be held at the American Legion Post 196 in Bloomfield on Friday, April 14 from 5-7 p.m.
A meal will be served with tickets costing $10 and all proceeds going to benefit the Fill the Pool Committee, which is responsible for the pool renovation process and plan.
According to volunteer Kris Jarman, the meal will include Hi-Decker sandwiches, chips, slaw, dessert and drinks.
Pre-sale tickets are available from: Theresa Smith at the courthouse; Matt Miller at REMC; Bloombank in downtown Bloomfield; Jane Luekin; Joanne Carmichael; Kris Jarman and PD Haywood.
Although tickets will be available at the door on the evening of the event, a limited amount will be available.
“Over $400,000 has been raised towards the goal of $500,000 needed to make the necessary repairs and upgrades to re-open the pool,” said Jarman.
According to Jarman, the Bloomfield Pool Technical Review Committee (TRC) is meeting regularly and continuing to make progress.
As previously stated in an article by the Greene County Daily World, the Request for Qualifications, which outlines the project budget for prospective contractors to offer bids, was set to be published the following day after the Bloomfield Town Council met on Tuesday, March 7, moving the project that much closer to a projected opening date in late 2018.
Prospective contractors will have several weeks to offer bids before the town decides who will design and carry-out the pool renovation project.
“All efforts are being made to reopen the pool by 2018,” said Jarman. “The pool provides a positive recreational activity for the community and county and I am eager to see the pool open and providing opportunities for memories to be created.”
