Three games in three nights for Lady Wolverines

Visiting Clay City jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the first inning at White River Valley Monday. The Lady Eels came back with six more in their next turn at bat. Clay City piled on eight more in the fourth frame cruising to a 19-3, five-inning win over the Lady Wolverines in Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conference softball action.

WRV pounded out nine hits, but couldn’t string enough of them together to put more than three runs on the board.

Katie Eddy had two hits, including a double. Kyra Frye and Audrey Richard also had two hits apiece.

Tuesday the Lady Wolverines fared a little better, holding Bloomington South to eight runs in an 8-1 setback at Bloomington.

The Lady Panthers’ Benham tossed a no hitter. Benham struck out 12 and walked one. Four South errors allowed WRV’s run to score.

The Lady Wolverines were on the road again Wednesday making the long trip to Oakland City to take on the Wood Memorial Lady Trojans.

WRV returned home with an 11-1 setback in five innings.

Wood Memorial led just 1-0 until breaking the game open with six runs in the third inning. The Lady Trojans added another in the fourth and three more in the fifth to bring about the early ending.

Wood Memorial pounded out 13 hits for its 11 runs.

Eddy had a double for the Lady Wolverines. Ruby Hamil and Sydney Davidson each singled for WRV.

White River Valley hosted SWIAC foe North Central Wednesday. The Lady Wolverines will entertain another conference opponent when Bloomfield visits Monday.
