Lady Miner linksters fire season best at Rea Park
The Linton-Stockton girls golf team came up with its best performance this season in Tuesday’s match against West Vigo at Terre Haute’s Rea Park.
The Lady Miners shot a season-low 213 besting the Lady Vikings’ team score of 222.
Taylor Riggleman led the way for the Lady Miners firing an even 50. Peyton Bland was just two strokes back of Riggleman. Isabel Meek shot 54 and Mattia Potter posted 57.
Coach Noah Hawkins said course conditions at Rea Park were conducive to low scoring and it showed in Linton’s performance.
“It was very good for the girls to get a win,” the coach said. “It’s nice to see our two best rounds of the year as we prepare for conference and sectionals over the next few days.”
The Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conference meet is Tuesday at Phil Harris. The sectional will be played Saturday at Country Club of Old Vincennes.
