Cardinals drop three tennis matches at Washington

A trip to Washington Saturday morning proved most unkind to Bloomfield’s tennis team.

Washington and Heritage Hills both swept Bloomfield by 5-0 margins. The Cardinals (2-11) fared better against Evansville Day, but still lost 3-2.,

Heritage Hills blanked Bloomfield in the first match.

Logan Smallwood (HH) blitzed Turner Royal 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, handing the Bloomfield sophomore his first defeat in four matches.

Cameron Van Winkle (HH) cruised past Wyatt McIntosh 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 2 singles match.

Gage Lowry put up a stiff fight at No. 3 singles, but still fell to John Dellamuth (HH), 6-6(7), 0-6, 1-0(7).

Jacob Luebbehusen and Josh Nelson (HH) won by a 7-5, 6-0 margin over Andrew Shelton and Graysen Medina in the No. 1 doubles match.

Trae Hirt and Zach Weaver (HH) prevailed over Donovan Cosgrove and Peyton Davis by a 6-2, 6-0 score in the No. 2 doubles match.

Evansville won two singles matches to win the second match 3-2.

Braedon Christie (ED) defeated Royal 6-1, 6-3.

Max Lowery (ED) edged McIntosh 6-4, 6-4.

Lowry trounced Duke Moosbrugger (ED) 6-0, 6-1.

Conor Meacham and Eddie Vraney scraped past Shelton and Medina 6-4, 6-3.

Peyton Davis and Patrick Beard (B) pounded Noah Hupmann and Cameron Monroe 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 2 doubles match.

The final match saw Washington blank Bloomfield 5-0.

John Rook (W) narrowly defeated Royal 6-3, 7-6(1).

Caleb Arthur (W) won the second set easily, posting a 7-6(4), 6-1 win over Wyatt McIntosh.

Zach Gray (W) beat Lowry, 6-3, 6-2.

Kaleb Knepp and Braden Kixmiller (W) prevailed over Shelton and Medina by a 6-3, 6-0 margin.

Drake Harmon and Jacob Mason (W) triumphed over Beard and Cosgrove 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 2 doubles match.

Bloomfield will host Owen Valley at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
