The White River Valley boys easily dominated the Wolverine Invitational last Saturday.

The Wolverines won with 21 points, followed by Cloverdale, 59; Owen Valley, 62; and Eminence, 111. Sullivan competed, but didn’t send enough runners to log a team score. Joe Records of WRV won the meet with a time of 17 minutes, 37 seconds.

The Owen Valley girls scored 30 points while the Lady Wolverines finished with 59. Only individual girls competed for Eminence, Cloverdale, and Sullivan. Josee Spatta of Owen Valley won the girls meet, finishing in 21:41.

“WRV’s boys dominated on their home course,” said WRV coach Claire Records. “We have six senior boys and, as this was their last home meet and our senior recognition meet, the whole team came ready to run. We placed five boys in the top ten and, with our sixth man coming in the 11th spot, (assistant coach Conner) Hill and I felt it was a great effort and the times reflected that effort. It’s always nice to finish your season with a win on your home course.”

The top 10 finishers were: Joe Records (WRV), first, 17:37; Brayton Cornelius (WRV), second, 17:52; Dakota Sparks (WRV), third, 17:59; Rylan Hall (C), fourth, 18:10; Riley Smith (Su), fifth, 18:17; Blaine Gilstrap (WRV), 18:20; Tucker Kirkhoff (OV), seventh, 18:33; Chase Ashcraft (C), eighth, 18:53; Beau Driscol (WRV), ninth, 19:05; and Corbin Furtonson, 10th, 19:32.

Other runners for WRV were: Tanner Denham, 11th, 19:33; Kyle Dickenson, 35th, 25:35; and Taylor Hacker, 38th, 28:52.

Coach Records said the WRV girls also ran well against a powerful Owen Valley squad. She said the Lady Wolverines have run several other times against the Lady Patriots this season, and Saturday marked WRV’s best competition against them.

“Our times are much lower than the other meets. The WRV girls took second to the powerful Owen Valley team. This Owen Valley team has always been fun to watch,” she said. “They were strong when I was a junior high coach competing against them so it’s great to see that bunch of ladies still working hard, still competing with a lot of success. They have a great girls coach and she has really worked hard building that team.”

The top 10 girls were: Josee Spatta (OV), first, 21:41; Brooklyn Hey (OV), second, 21:43; Christiane Davis (WRV), third, 22:21; Lily Monnett (C), fourth, 22:27; Macie Couch (C), fifth, 22:38; Jailyn Lundy (WRV), sixth, 22:41; Sammi Godwin (OV), seventh, 22:49; Sydney Pike (Su), eighth, 23:16; Mason Miller (OV), ninth, 23:18; and Shelby Hall (Su), 10th, 23:39.

Other Lady Wolverines competing were: Carly Sloan, 15th, 25:01; Jailea Lundy, 16th, 25:09; Ashley Camden, 19th, 26:20, a new personal record; and Emma Records, 24th, 32:04.

WRV will compete in the Shakamak Invitational at 9:00 a.m. Saturday.
