Margaret Meece

Margaret L. Meece, age 85, of Linton, passed away at 2:08 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.

She was born in Bloomfield on Dec. 22, 1931, the daughter of Maynard and Mildred (Bingham) Stack.

Margaret’s mother’s family was part of the original Bingham family who were among the first settlers in southern Indiana and have their original cabin on display at the museum in Bloomington.

Margaret worked as a carhop, waitress and cashier at the Tee Pee in Indianapolis for over 20 years.

She is survived by her son, Stephen Hooker and daughter-in-law, Athena Hooker of Linton; three sisters, Betty Cox of Worthington, Sarah Gwinn of Linton and Joyce Eakin of Stanford; two grandsons, Chad and Shane Hooker; and a granddaughter, Morgan Hooker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother, Esther Stack; a step-sister, Linda Sullivan; her former husband, Charles W. Hooker; and her husband, William Meece.

Private services will be held at Fairview Cemetery.

Services are in care of Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton.
