Patriots squeak by visiting Shakamak 37-33
Vincennes Rivet edged visiting Shakamak 37-33 Saturday night in the season opener for both teams.
Rylee Landry led Shakamak with 16 points and Lane Gilbert scored nine. The Lakers shot only 3-17 (17.65 percent) from three-point range.
Shakamak will host Bloomfield at 6:00 p.m. Friday.

WRV splits two
White River Valley’s boys basketball team split two games Saturday afternoon in the Riverton Parke Classic.
Providence Cristo Rey (3-0) thumped the Wolverines 62-38 in the first game. PCR led 20-10 after one quarter and 39-22 at the break.
However, White River Valley beat Eminence (0-3) 53-43 in the second game. The split gives WRV a 2-1 record in the season.
The Wolverines will host South Knox at 6:00 p.m. Friday.
Braves scalp Dawgs
Tecumseh proved to be merciless guests Saturday night at Union.
The Braves won their season opener by massacring Union (0-2) 67-22.
Union will travel to Martinsville (IL) at 7:00 p.m. Friday.
Clovers mulch Eastern
The Lady Clovers rolled over Eastern Saturday afternoon, posting a 74-17 victory over their hosts.
Cloverdale (6-1) jumped out to a 27-3 lead in the first quarter, Michelle Hatfield scoring all of Eastern’s points, and never looked back. Hatfield led Eastern (1-4) with eight points in the Lady Thunderbirds’ fourth straight loss.
Eastern will travel to Pike Central at 6:00 p.m. tonight.
