Carol Jean Garrison Bruce
Carol Jean Garrison Bruce, age 88, of Indianapolis, passed away on Friday, Jan. 5, 2018.
She was born on June 11, 1929, to William “Cecil” and Jennie Smiley in Bloomfield. After the death of her first husband, Frank Garrison, she went on to marry Merle Edmund Bruce, who also predeceases her.
Carol retired as an accountant from the Producers Marketing Association of Indianapolis in November of 1991 and was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary of Beech Grove Aerie 4167. She was very well read, a longtime IU fan, and loved to play euchre. Carol was also a skilled seamstress who did cross stitch and made many quilts. Having been a resident of Rosewalk at Lutherwoods Assisted Living, she was the President of the Resident’s Council, called bingo, and dealt poker there. Carol was extremely loved by her family and friends and will be very much missed.
Carol is survived by her son, Kevin (Jinger) Garrison of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Blair (Leah Butler) Garrison of Greenwood, and Kara (Kevin) Garrison Cook of Indianapolis; great-grandchildren, Skylar and Hanna Garrison of Greenwood; step-grandchildren, Christie (Chad) Catt of Greenwood, Aaron Moore of Virginia, and Travis Moore of Indianapolis; as well as five step-great-grandchildren.
She is also preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Jennie Smiley, as well as several brothers and sisters.
No memorial services are scheduled, but a celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 10 from noon until 4 p.m. at the home of Carol’s family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
