The sixth annual Linton Farmers’ Market will be Saturday, May 19th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Linton's Humphreys Park.

For the last several months, the market has been gearing up for another bountiful season of fresh local fruits, vegetables and other homemade goods.

The market this year will be located in the middle of Humphreys Park near the tennis and basketball courts.

This new location will still allow the vendor and customer areas to be on the pavement while avoiding any traffic flow problems within the park. There will be plenty of customer parking as well as a picnic shelter, playgrounds, and restrooms nearby.

"In retrospect, last year was by far the best season the Linton Farmers’ Market has yet to experience," said LFM Market Manager Mark Stacy, who explained that gross market sales for the year were up by an astounding 73 percent and featured more than 10,000 customers averaging to around 500 customers per day.

"Every year, more and more Linton residents discover what a gem this little market has turned out to be and have made a visit to the market part of their normal Saturday morning routine," said Stacy.

Market shoppers this year will be able to choose from a wide variety of locally-grown fruits and vegetables ranging from asparagus to zucchini; purchase farm-fresh eggs and non-GMO beef, pork, chicken and rabbit meat; and continue to peruse a variety of homemade goods for sale, including breads, cakes, pies, jams, herbal teas and honey.

Another new vendor will offer fresh, made-from-scratch breakfast and lunch items on a rotating menu.

The Farmers' Market will continue to offer live musical entertainment on most days, and after young families with kids are done shopping, they can take a stroll through the park to enjoy the splash pad and the newly-expanded playground equipment.

"The farmers’ market is a great place to enjoy a cup of coffee, meet some friends, grab a bite to eat, and go home with a variety of fresh food to feed your family," said Stacy, adding that shopping at the farmers' market supports local farmers and producers.
